The use of air conditioners increases in summer. During this time many people get their AC serviced. But it has been seen many times that you are cheated in the name of changing the coil of AC. 

Technicians often trouble you by telling you that the coil of your AC has gone bad and needs to be replaced. For which they also charge you as per their wish. 

In order to get the AC repaired, you get the coil of the AC changed at a higher price. But understand how much the coil costs and how you should avoid paying more money to the mechanic.

How does cheating happen?

There are two coils in AC – evaporator coil and condenser coil. If there is any problem in these coils, then they do not work properly. 

This also affects the cooling. However, many times technicians exaggerate the problem of these coils and ask you to replace it with a new coil. They try to extract money by quoting a price higher than the actual price.

Many times, they install old and poor quality coils. In many cases, customers are lured into replacing the coil without informing them even when there is no defect.

Cost of replacing coil in split and window AC

In a split AC, the evaporator coil and condenser coil can cost anywhere between Rs 3,000 and Rs 10,000, depending on the brand and model. In a window AC, the coil can cost around Rs 2,000 and Rs 8,000.

If your technician is asking you for more money, then try to contact other technicians as well and find out the charges from them.

How to avoid fraud?

Get the AC serviced from the official service center only. If you are told to change the coil, then take another review and another opinion. Check the warranty of the AC. 

Because if there is a problem with the AC, then the company itself can do free repair. Clear the price beforehand before any service or repair.
