- Chest pain while walking

- breathlessness

- Swelling in hands, feet or whole body

- Feeling very weak

- All these symptoms can be a sign of heart disease

- If a child has a congenital heart disease, they may also show some symptoms

- Like not being able to drink milk continuously

- excessive sweating

– Weight loss or inability to gain weight properly

For what reasons does heart health start to deteriorate?

Nowadays many people smoke cigarettes and drink alcohol. Some people also consume drugs. Also, people do not exercise. They remain under a lot of stress. All these can increase heart diseases.

Some medical conditions also affect heart health. Such as obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. In some genetic diseases the heart is already weak, such as dilated cardiomyopathy.

At the same time, heart valves can get damaged due to some infections. Heart valves are one-way doors in all four chambers of the heart, which allow blood to flow in the right direction. If heart valves get damaged, they have to be repaired or replaced.

Which tests should be done to check heart health?

The most common test is an electrocardiogram, or ECG. This shows how the heart is working.

The second test is 2D Echo. This shows how the heart is functioning, whether there is any leakage in the valves, and whether the heart has weakened or not.

The third test is TMT or treadmill test. In this, the person is made to run on the treadmill and then ECG is done. After this, it is seen whether there is any change in it or not.

Apart from this, coronary angiography or CT coronary angiography is also done. If there is any blockage in the veins of the heart, then this test reveals it.

If the heart disease is congenital, then it can be detected through 2D Echo. Catheterization study can also be done. In this, a thin tube called a catheter is taken to the heart through the blood vessels.

A blood cholesterol test is done to determine the amount of bad cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood. If there has been a heart attack, then a Trop-I test is done. This shows how big and serious the heart attack was.
