In the next 25 years, a large population of India is at risk of obesity, this report is frightening

The most worrying thing is that obesity has increased rapidly among people between 15 and 24 years of age. And, it will increase further. If we look at it globally, by 2050, more than half of the adults and one-third of children and youth around the world will be overweight.

'One-third of India's population will be obese by 2050.' This is the statement of a report published in The Lancet Journal. According to this report, about 21.8 crore men and 23.1 crore women in India will be overweight by the year 2050.

That is, their weight will be more than the set standard. If the number of these men and women is added, then the number comes to 44.9 crores. That is, about 45 crores. This is about one-third of the estimated population of the country.

If we look at it globally, by 2050, more than half of the adults and one-third of children and youth around the world will be overweight.

Currently, 211 crore adults in the world are obese. This figure is estimated to increase to 380 crore by 2050. At present, 49.3 crore children and youth aged 5 to 24 years are suffering from obesity. But, in the next 25 years, this figure will also increase to 74.6 crore.

This means that the problem of obesity is increasing very rapidly. This is also a matter of concern because more than half of the adults suffering from obesity live in only 8 countries. India is also one of them. After China, India has the highest number of people suffering from the problem of obesity or overweight.

Dr Mohit says that there are many reasons for the increase in obesity. Like people eating too much processed food. Drinking sugary drinks. Including things in your diet that are high in fat.

Also, not getting enough sleep. Being under a lot of stress. Emotional eating. That is, eating more when you are sad or upset. Not exercising. Sitting on a chair for hours. Being lazy. Weight also starts increasing due to hormonal imbalances like PCOS, hypo-thyroidism and insulin resistance.

As far as getting rid of obesity is concerned, physical activity is very important. As research has shown, obesity has increased rapidly among older adolescents, i.e. people between 15 and 24 years of age.

Therefore, people of this age group should exercise daily. The World Health Organization also has guidelines on this. According to this, an adult person should do light exercise for at least 150 to 300 minutes every week.

That is, 2.5 to 5 hours a week. If you are doing intense exercise, do it for 75 to 150 minutes. If you have the capacity, you can do more than this.

However, exercise does not necessarily involve going to a gym. You can start with some activity around the house. Walking, jogging, walking your pet, walking with a friend or going for a run.

Along with this, take special care of your food. Avoid eating too much oily and spicy food. Do not eat outside processed or fried food. Take a good balanced diet.
